Meshtastic and Slippy Streets

The community picked a Meshtastic node kit, shipped an icy-road alert tool, and boosted a Multiverse member's alternative event listing.

This issue is dressed as Epunk

CJ Trowbridge and Liz settled on a secure chipset and kit for a Meshtastic node, and readers were asked to buy one to run. The class was to be held at Burning Man's offices.

The community also made a tool for tracking and alerting neighbors about slippery streets, built with Gerry, with a suggestion to fork it and run a local copy. Freak Scene, run by crew member Neek, was highlighted as an alternative events listing that avoids Meta and X.

CyberDefense Protocols For The Resistance began Thursday at 2pm as a community class, starting with Opsec. Anadon ran a community Local Python Setup session. Liz cancelled Swarm Architecture, since it fizzled every time, and planned to re-release its key ideas as shorter classes.

2/2/2025 Multiverse Report

Multiverse Crew-

The resistance is underway. Here's what we did last week:

CJ Trowbridge and I settled on a secure chipset and kit for setting up a Meshtastic node. If you'd like to help out, purchase one of those to run. We'll be running the class out of Burning Man's offices.

Is your street sometimes... slippery? Want to keep track of and alert your neighbors when there's a fall risk? Are we talking about... ice? Icy roads are so dangerous. Anyway, we made a tool for that. Thanks Gerry. Fork this to run a local copy in case this is deleted. (Not helpful in areas where Stingrays operate but very helpful near your home in case of Icy Weather which I hear may be year round.)

Solarpunk Standup is on. Join us at 8am Pacific, bring your problems, anxieties, and issues. We'll triage every morning, and then get started / emotionally process together. The horrors persist, but so shall we.

Job Search / Brandup Standup will be from 9am - 10am Pacific. This is where you'll work on your personal brand and search for jobs. It is split into two simultaneous sessions- Branding, run by Chris, and Search, run by Liz. If you want to be financially independent in tumultuous times, you'll want to make sure to attend this.

We'll also begin CyberDefense Protocols For The Resistance, on Thursday at 2pm. This is a community class. We'll begin with Opsec For The Resistance.

The repo and the Python class

Please contribute to the resistance repo.

Local Python Setup will be at 8am Pacific on Thursday, run by Anadon. This is also a Community Class.

I have cancelled Swarm Architecture, as this class ends up fizzling every time. I'll be rearchitecting the class and re-releasing the key concepts under other, shorter classes.

Don't forget to join us on Matrix, where we'll stay tight-knit and coordinated, run mutual aid groups, and keep everyone safe. This is going to be a rough few years. Let's keep each other safe and sane.

Let's survive first, then fight fascism, then build utopia. You have your orders. See you at first assembly.
